dc.description.abstract The study was conducted at Gezira scheme, Gezira state and Sudan University of science and technology, college of agricultural studies, Shambat (August 2013), to estimate the volume of deposited silt in Gezira and Managil main canals and calculated the cost of silt removal at current price. The independent computer model for estimation of silt deposits volume and desiliting costs was designed and written in visual basic 6 programming languages. The computer model has many interfaces:- The main computer model interface, input data interface which includes two surfaces: 8 Design input data include, design depth, bed width, top width, roughness coefficient, canal side slope and canal bed slope. The survey input data include the actual canal width; reach length, depth readings and cost of silt removal for a cubic meter. The output data interfaces include three types: design output data, canal discharge, flow speed, hydraulic radius, cross section area and canal reach volume. Field survey output data include two type data: canal cross sectional area and canal reach volume. The computer model output data that includes: canal reach deposited volume in cubic meters and cost of silt removal in the reach. The computer model algorithm is designed to calculate the volume of silt deposited in the canal in digital form and the calculation of total cost of silt removal from canal. The comparison between computer model calculated silt adiposities in the two canals and the silt adiposities estimated as in the HRS report (1997) shows that there is no significant difference between the two values as analyzed by SPSS statistical analyses computer model it is also showed that there a strong correlation (0.999) between results . en_US
