Abstract:
The knee joint is the largest joint in the human body and is very complicated structure any injury to the ligaments can affect joint movement there for it is important to recognize these injuries.
The study was aimed to assess knee joint injuries by magnetic resonance imaging in order to find the associated factors. This descriptive study was conducted in Khartoum - Sudan at Aliaa hospital from 1/11/2019 up to1/1/2020 to evaluate knee joint injuries by magnetic resonance imaging.100 patient (66females and 34males) were scanned by 1.5 Tesla Toshiba system , the data was collected ,classified and analyzed using SPSS, and found that anterior curciate ligament (ACL ) tear is the most common knee joint tear with a prevalence of 33% then 16% for medial meniscus (MM) and also found that females (66) were more affected than males(34), and the age group of (22-37) were more affected to knee joint injuries ,the study also concluded that there was no relation between patient’s occupation and types of injury.
Finally, the study recommended that further studies should be done by larger sample size to determine the grade of ligaments tear and to assess knee joint osteoarthritis as incidental findings in young people.
