dc.description.abstract The determination of the kidney morphology i.e. size, shape and site for hypertensive patients have been carried out by using Nuclear Medicine Renal scintigraphy with enhancement of technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA). A total of 100 hypertensive patients who were referred to RICK and Elnilein medical center have investigated with 99mTC-DMSA. The renal scintigraphy findings showed that: DMSA scan accurately diagnosed morphological changes in the kidneys for hypertensive patient which is reveal that 9% of patient encountered with shape changed (Irregular out line with photopenic defects and/or focal lesions), hypertrophy with 21% of the sample appeared with increased kidney size as and 69% of the patient with normal appearance after scanning. The sensitivity and specificity of the DMSA scan for detecting the renal morphology which is based on the complete uptake by the cortex is relatively 100%. en_US
