dc.description.abstract Cogeneration is the producing more than one useful form of energy which can be uses in a different form of process heat and electrical power. This energy from the same source, in cogeneration systems there is a considerable amount of waste thermal energy, usually come from electric generation device like steam turbine or gas turbine or any types of heat engines. This energy can be used as for space and heating water for any purposes, or in water process heating or as energy source for any system component. In this thesis, two bagasse cogeneration systems are examined. Parametric analysis of back pressure steam turbine cogeneration system, condensing steam turbine cogeneration system is conducted. Energy and exergy analyses are performed for two bagasse-based cogeneration configurations. The analysis characterizes the effect of operating conditions (temperature 490ºC -580ºC and pressure 60 bar-81 bar), better energy and exergy efficiency can be resulted from high pressure and temperature in turbine inlet. Thus, Cogeneration is leading to significant environment advantageous, the increase in efficiency and corresponding decrease in fuel amount to deliver the same unit power, if compared by other conventional processes for thermal and electrical energy generation. Thus, a large reduction in greenhouse gasses emissions specially in the power industrial sectors. en_US
