dc.description.abstract This study aimed at investigating the role of the process approach in developing EFL students’ writing composition for3rd-year secondary schools students in Al Fashir. The researcher adopted descriptive analytical method. Data collected through a questionnaire for the teachers and test for the students. The study examined (150) students and (60) teachers as sample of the study. The results of the study showed that stages of the process approach encourage students in writing good composition. In addition, students have problems in how to startgood beginning of the sentences,clear ending the composition,logical sequence of the subject , organizing idea,lack of vocabulary,grammatical problems and unable to use punctuation marks in proper place. Moreover, teachers neglect the importance of using process approach in teaching writing composition, student’s textbooks did not provide process approach information for teaching writing composition. Finally, the researcher found that the process approach played a great role in developing students writing composition. Based on the results, the study concluded with a set of recommendations for teachers, students and stockholders in placing the utmost importance of using the process approachwhen teaching composition en_US
