dc.description.abstract This study aimed at investigating the efficiency of using PowerPoint programm on developing reading sub-skills of university students. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method. The population of the study was university students. The sample of this study was (100) first year students from Sudan university of science and technology. The researcher used pre and post- test and questionnaire as tools for collecting data. The data has been analyzed with statistical package for the social science (SPSS) program using descriptive analytical method. Based on these analysis and discussion, the study has found that blended e – learning enables students to guess and predict meaning of unfamiliar words, it helps students to improve their fluency, enables them to understand above sentences learning, work out an intended meaning, and helps students to activate their previous knowledge (schema) when they start reading. Additionally, it has found that explicit teaching of reading sub-skills improves students' ability of guessing meaning of unfamiliar words, and improves them in scanning and skimming reading, and it is better than implicit teaching in devolving inferring. Based on the results, the researcher recommended the following: English language teachers have to take into account the importance of using some e-learning programs such as PowerPoint in teaching reading comprehension skills. All university classrooms should be supported by electronic tools of teaching. Students should be encouraged to know how can benefit from the speed, colors and animations that uses in PowerPoint program. English language teachers have to take into account the importance of explicit teaching especially when they use PowerPoint program. The researcher suggests some points for future researchers based on the findings of the study. The suggestions are: the effect of E-learning on developing figurative language. The impact of e-learningon developing listening skills. The role of e-learning on developing vocabulary comprehension. The role of online tests on developing reading comprehension skills. en_US
