dc.description.abstract This is study a cross sectional hospital based study, conducted at Radiation and Isotop Center-Khartoum (RICK) during the period between first of March up to first of September 2012. The aim of this study was to measure some haemostatic parameters among Sudanese leukaemic patients at RICK in Khartoum State. People recruited for this study were 50 leukaemic patients (16 AML, 17 ALL, 11 CML, and 6 CLL). Among these patients 30 males and 20 females, their age ranged between 2 to 66 years, 30 health individuals used as a control. 50 Blood samples were collected from both patients and control and investigated for Prothrombin time -PT, activated partial Thromboplastin time-APTT and platelets count using routine methods. Fully automated hematology analyzer (sysmex) was used for platelets count and manual analysis for PT and APTT tests. The results of this study showed that the mean of platelets count within normal range regardless of sex, age of patients and type of leukemia. But platelets count within normal range in ALL and CML patients but statistical insignificantly different between patients and control (P value =0.96, 0.54) respectively, Insignificant decrease in platelets count in AML and CLL patients compared to control (P value= 0.09) and (P value= 0.44) respectively. There was significant prolongation in PT in study group mean (19.7±SD) compared to control group mean (14.4±SD) (P value =0.00), but significant increase in PT according to age group from 2-20 years mean (17.9±SD), from 21-40 years mean (19.0±SD) and from 41-66 years mean (24.0±SD) (P value=0.03), The PT was significant prolonged in AML mean (21.9±SD), ALL mean (19.7±SD), CML mean (18.3±SD) in patients compared to control mean (13.4±SD) (P value=0.00) and in CLL mean (15.9±SD), (P value=0.04). Insignificant difference of PT according IV to sex (P value =0.12) Insignificant difference of PT according to type of disease (P value=0.27). There was significant prolongation in APTT in case mean (37.7±SD), compared to control mean (29.5±SD), (P value =0.00), The APTT was significant prolonged in ALL mean (36.7±SD) and AML mean (41.3±SD) patients compared to control mean (29.5±SD) (P value=0.02), and (P value=0.00) respectively. While Insignificant difference in APTT according to sex (P value =0.17), according to age group (P value=0.07), Insignificant difference in APTT according to type of disease (P value =0.47). But the APTT in CML and CLL patients was insignificant difference in these value between patients and control (P value=0.08) and (P value=0.07) respectively. Due to prolongation in PT and APTT and decrease in platelets count, the present results concluded that the leukaemic patients in this study were risk of bleeding problems. en_US
