dc.description.abstract This study aims to investigate the Challenges Pertaining to Fluency in Spoken English among Sudanese undergraduates majoring in English. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method. The sample of this study consists of (46) teachers, (67) students and (5) experts of English language who have long experience in teaching English as a foreign language. The researcher used two tools for collecting relevant data; a questionnaire was administered for teachers, students and an interview with experts. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the collected data. Then the researcher came up with the following results: (93.5%) of the teachers agree that in their estimation to their students lack of training on conversational convention prevent student from speaking English fluently. While (91.3%) of the teachers assured that lack of sufficient vocabulary affects negatively on oral communication. On the other hand, (98.5%) of the students agree that lack of self- confidence and fear prevent them from speaking English fluently. And all experts agree and believe that lack of training on oral communication affects fluent speaking, in addition all the experts confessed that shortage of ideas and insufficient vocabulary hinder students in fluent speaking. The recommendations of the study is that teachers of English language should be given sufficient training on how to teach oral communication moreover, students should be given more time to practice English and their teachers should encourage them in oral communication. en_US
