dc.description.abstract Phytochemical investigation of fruit pulp of Adansonia digitata gave positive reactions for : steroids, terpenes, flavonoids, tannins and glycosides. GC-MS analysis of Adansonia digitataoil was conducted and the identification of the constituents was initially accomplished by comparison with the MS library (NIST) and further confirmed by interpreting of the observed fragmentation pattern.Comparison of the mass spectra with the database on MS library revealed about 90-95% match. The GC-MS analysis of the studied oil revealed the presence of 20 components. The oil contained the following components as major constituents: -Oleic acid(Area:30.26%) -9-Octadecenoic acid methyl ester(22.40%) -9,12-Octadecadienoic acid methyl ester(18.73%) en_US
