dc.description.abstract This research, reviewed the role of UNDP in supporting human development in Sudan, through a case study applied to livelihoods project in the Office of UNDP - South Darfur state, focusing on the experience of beekeeping, livestock rearing, cultivation of peanuts and hibiscus, along with training programs for the IDPs. Objectives of the research has been to highlight the situation of human development in Sudan through South Darfur state, definition of livelihoods project, the motives behind the implementation of the project in South Darfur state, definition of the project implementation phases, and the obstacles encountered during the implementation, identify the economic and social positive results and impacts resulting from the implementation of the project. the research follow the historical method, and descriptive analytical method (case study method) for data collection, classification, analysis and interpretation on account of test and dissemination of results. The study clarify that through the experience of the UNDP, even in a conflict situation, development and livelihood activities can be carried out, livelihood projects have contributed to the improvement of some economic and social aspects, the trainings organized by UNDP, has helped IDPs to improve their situation and rely on themselves, lack of peace and security in South Darfur, is one of the biggest threats to development, the negative perspective towards the projects of foreign organizations limits the success of many of them, weak capacities of beneficiaries and lack of training is a challenge facing UNDP, in addition to poorness of infrastructure, the best projects for the state population are agricultural and industrial projects, as well as the quick impact projects. The study attained the need for continuation of UNDP in implementation of development projects, even in a conflict time, implementation of more livelihoods projects in South Darfur, implementation of more IDPs trainings to build a self-reliant society, expanding coverage of livelihoods projects across the state, achieve and enhance security and sustainable peace, raise awareness of the beneficiaries towards the projects implemented by INGOs, strengthening infrastructure and paving the roads, increase development projects that target the main activities of the state's population such as agriculture and industry that rely on domestic production, build the capacity of NGOs, and cooperation of HAC to facilitate the work of the organizations and their movement within the state. en_US
