The researcher aims to study the amount of contrast media
dose which is given to the patients who are investigated by MRI.
The researcher assume that the dose of C.M is not given as
the recommended dose from the manufacture that give every
weight its suitable dose.
This research was done in Medical Salvation Center and
Khartoum Advance Development Center. The researcher use the
questionnaire to collect the data from (100) random sample (51F,
49 M) will different sexes, ages and weights and the results were
as following:-
Only 3% of the patients were injected with suitable dose
according to their weight and the resolution of the images was
good and well diagnosed.
13% of the patient, took an amount of dose more than the
recommended dose, the images were clear with good
resolution and no side effects were happened during the
examination.
84% of the patients who were the majority took an amount of
dose less than the recommended dose and the absorption of
the contrast differ according to the alternative disease and the
results were as the following:-
V
o 20% of the patients have got good absorption inspite of
the recommended dose.
o 22% of the patients have got intermediate absorption.
o 40% of the patients have got low absorption.
o 18% of the patients have got no absorption.
The reduction of C.M dose lead to misdiagnosis in some
cases and repetition of others and then increase the cost to the
patient.
The main causes that lead to these results that the absence of
proper instrument to weight the patient so as to give the ideal
dose and also the too expensive C.M.
No serious side effects were happened from using C.M
except in two cases only mild vomiting was happened because
the patients weren’t fasting.
Finally, the researcher found that the research hypotheses
were correct and this center did not give the patients the ideal and
suitable doses.
The researcher recommended to give the company detected
dose according to the patient weight to gain the correct diagnosis. |
