Abstract:
Background and aim of this study to determine and study the incidence of common hepatic lesions occur whom presents at the radiology and ultrasound department of four hospital in Khartoum state Fedail Hospital , Alfaisal Hospital , Alzaytouna Hospital and Al Turkey Center ,when the liver is investigated using computed tomography (CT) modality .
Methodology: for CT scan machine manufactured by an Germany company was used CT of liver, in Fedail Hospital instrument used was CT Siemens Somatom, scanner features include 70cm aperture ,and field of view (FOV) of 50 cm and a patient table that can hold patients up to 440 pounds .Also it offers reconstruction on the fly with up to 16 slice per second .The tube voltage used was 150 KVP and 180_200mAs ,2) Alfaisal Hospital CT scan machine manufactured by an Japanese company (Toshiba 4 slice ),The tube voltage used was 150 KVP and 180_200 mAs ,3)Alzaytouna hospital ,CT scan machine manufactured by an Japanese company (Toshiba 64 slice ). The tube voltage used was 150 KVP and 180_200 mAs.
Data were initially summarized into means , standard deviation (SD):mean +_ SD and percentages in a form of compression tables and graphs .Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel Software and the standard Statistical package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
The results: out of 40 patients examined samples (mean age 54.33_85)years ,male percentage (60%) female percentage (40%), 45%benign hepatic include 225% focal lesion ,25% solitary cyst ,5% fatty liver 2.5% enlarged liver were metastatic tumor 20% , 2.5% shrunken liver, liver and 15% were liver Cirrhosis
In conclusion: liver CT enables detection and characterization of a large variety of focal liver lesions, including the benign and malignant liver lesions that occur most frequently, also in the presence of different pathologic condition and multi level diseases Metastatic liver lesions and liver cirrhosis and multiple cystic lesions were the commonest hepatic lesions detected in Sudanese patients.
