Abstract:
This study aimed at exploring the linguistic features of writing in English among Facebook users at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST). The researcher used the descriptive analytical method and adopted the questionnaire and test as tools for data collection. The sample of the study was drawn exclusively from (30) second year students who are English majors. The most important findings showed the Facebook users were familiar with linguistic features in sentences structure through Facebook, Facebook usage has positive and negative impacts on form of writing in academic performance, Facebook users are familiar with nonverbal language (emoticons) to express their feelings and ideas through Facebook as a results boost understanding of linguistic features. At the end of the study, the researcher came up with some recommendations such as; Teachers of English should encourage non-Facebook users should be online so as to improve their writing skill.
