Abstract:
This is an analytical retrospective case study conducted at the Radiation and Isotope Center-Khartoum and Sudan University of Science and Technology- College of Medical Laboratory Science during the period from March 2015to December 2016.The study aimed to detect beta catenin in bladder tumor among Sudanese patients using immunohistochemical method, thirty paraffin blocks were collected from patients previously diagnosed as bladder tumor ,of whom 20 (66.7%)samples were diagnosed as bladder cancer among age between(40-90)year,with main age 55 years and 10 (33.3%) samples were diagnosed as benign bladder tumors their age (48-63)year .from each block one section(3µ) was cut by using rotary microtome
,stained by immunohistochemical method using beta catnin thendata was analyzed using SPSS version 16 computer programs, mean, frequency andChi square test were calculated .
The study revealed that the Beta catnin was positive in 20 samples(66.3%), while 10 samples(33.7%) were negative, from positive results, only one sample from bengin, while 19sample from malignant bladder tumor, with significant differences between beta catenin expression and bladder tumor (P.value<0.05).
The study concludes that, there is a sigificant relation between beta catnin expression and bladder cancer.
