Abstract:
This study aims at investigating problems encountered by secondary school students in using prepositions in writing sentences. To achieve this purpose, the researcher has adopted descriptive analytical method by using a test and questionnaire , the population of the study consisted of 40 students. The researcher has analyzed the data by using the statistical programme (SPSS). The data analysis showed that secondary school students can not differentiate between types of preposition , and also the neglect of using preposition rules is one of the causes that make problems (syllabus design- teacher techniques) at the end of the study the researcher presented some recommendations: teachers and syllabus designers should contribute in developing curriculum .Teachers should place more emphasis on teaching prepositions , drills and more activities in their hand out sheet, the school library should be improved with suitable English books , and dictionaries .
