Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the relationship between students' pronunciation and transcription, the study focuses basically on pronunciation with and without transcription, the method of the research is descriptive method, in this research pronunciation test has been designed to collect data. The researcher has chosen twenty Subjects selected randomly from third-year students, college of languages, at Sudan University of Science and Technology. After analyzing the data the researcher come up with the following results: firstly the majority of students performed badly while pronouncing sentences with transcription, secondly transcription confused students' pronunciation regarding sentences, thirdly Students' performance is better concerning words with contrast to sentences, fourthly Mother tongue has great effect on students' pronunciation, according to these results the researcher recommends the following: teaching of phonetic should be an integral part of listening and speaking courses, not only as separate courses, but also English Language learners should pay more attention to the way they articulate the foreign vowels.
