Abstract:
Iron oxides are generally studied due to their interesting physical properties. For instance, their electric and magnetic properties have many applications in electrical, magnetic, and gas sensing devises. In particular, we note that over the past few years, the study of system of hematite (α-Fe2O3) has attracted considerable attention both from basic and applied viewpointsIron oxide is the inorganic compound, it is one of the three main oxides of iron, the other two being (FeO), which is rare, and (Fe3O4), which also occurs naturally as the mineral magnetite.
This research studied the structural properties of Fe2O3(99.9%) compound using diffraction phenomena, have been studied. The X-Ray data was refined by two software program (Win-fit and powdercell method) in order to find the lattice parameters of this compound. The crystal structure of Fe2O3was found to hexagonal with lattice parameters a=5.0305/A, b=5.0305/Ao, and c=13.7380/ Ao, and the angle are α=90, β=90 and γ=120o .The experimental work has been done at Al Neelain University, physics department X-Ray unit.
