Abstract:
Across –sectional study conducted during the period from
May 2012 to August 2012 to asses and compare the serum
levels of urea ,creatinine and uric acid among type 2
diabetic patients with myocardial infarction . FortySudanese
type 2 diabetics with myocardial infarction were selected as
a test group from Sudan Heart Center ,Medical Modda
Hospital ,Bolice Hospital and Alshab Hospital in Khartoum
state , Sudan. The test group was compared with a control
group(1), which included 30 apparently healthy volunteers
and
acontrol
group
(2)which
included
30
sudanese with type 2 II
diabetes mellitus without
myocardial infarction from
Specialized Zinnam Hospital
. Age and gender of the
test group were matched
with the control groups.
Blood specimens were collected from all participants in this
study . Serum levels of urea ,creatinine and uric acid were
measured using spectrophotometric methods . Statistical
pakage for Social Science (SPSS version 11.5) computer
software was used for data analysis.
The results of this study indicated asignificantly raised
means of the serum levels of urea ,creatinine and uric acid
of the test group when compared with the control groups.
Urea was significantly increased in the test group when
compared with the healthy group (1) (p=0.00). Serum
creatinine of the test group was significantly raised when
compared with control group(1) ( p=0.29) . Serum Uric acid
of the test group is also significantly raised compared with
control group(1) (p=0.00).
Serum Urea was significantly increased in the test group
when compared with the control group (2) (p=0.00).
Serum creatinine of the test group was significantly raised
when compared with control group(2) ( p=0.00) . Serum Uric acid of the test group is also significantly raised when
.)00.0=compared with control group(2) (p
In this study these is a significant correlation between the
duration of diabetes of the test group and the serum levels
. of urea ,creatinine and uric acid mg/dl
