Abstract:
This study aimed to:
To know the offensive expressions that was used by Arab and English
people.To examine gender language and ethnic language of the speaker as
well as the choice of expletive with.The sample of the study was 30 students
from university of Sudan for Science and Technology College of Languages
– English Department.The present study investigates the reasons behind the
using of taboo language in English and Arabic Language.A relevant test was
used and data were analyzed to answer the question.A questionnaire was also
distributed to the same students to give their knowledge of taboos and
profanities. The data is analyzed statistically in the form of tables and figures
in chapter four. The researcher discovered that the students were:Students
agree, there are many offensive expressions used by Arab and English
people.Students confirm there is affection of gender and race language of
perceived offensiveness.
