ABSTRACT
This study aims to study the effect of the gases emitted from the Bahri station and its new extensions to the residential area around the station, We found that the thermal power plants generally emit several gases are carbon dioxide Co2 ,sulfur dioxide So2 , ozone O3 ,nitrogen oxides Nox , the first oxide carbon Co and particulate matter, and we found that each of such gases to a certain concentration in natural atmosphere if this increased focus for the allowable limit poses a threat to the environment and humans, in this study, we measured the concentrations of the three gases carbon dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide at distances multiple from the station to a distance of 10 Km from the station and we found that the concentrations of these gases, the three above-average allowed in all distances were measured concentration where posing a major threat to the residential area around the station (area Kafouri), which is considered a populated area .
The most prominent of the recommendations that were derived from the study are thinking seriously in the station alternative to this station in a place far from residential areas is also recommended that the inclusion of environmental studies in the feasibility studies for such industrial projects before embarking on implementation because the preservation of the environment came to be necessity dictated by the continuity of human life on the earth's surface .
