This study was carried out in Omdurman Teaching Hospital, Khartoum North Teaching Hospital, Ribat University Hospital, Military Hospital in Khartoum state during the period from February to May 2014 . Atotal of 30 cotton swab specimens were collected and isolated on macConkey agar and blood agar. The identification of pathogens was done by colonial morphology, Gram stain and biochemical identification using catalase test ,DNase test, mannitol salt agar , indole test , citrate test , urease test and kligler iron agar. Modified Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method was used to study the susceptibility patterns of isolated bacteria against the following antibiotics Amoxclav, Ciprofloxacin, Ceftrixone, Tetracycline, Chloramphenicol, Gentamicin for Gram negative bacilli. Vancomycin, Oxacillin, Ciprofloxacin and gentamicin for S.aureus Ceftaxine, Nerobinin, Ambikacin and Streptomycin for Pseudomonas aureginosa , seven type of bacteria were isolated and identified ,the most dominant species was Citrobacter freundii 9 (25%) followed by Pseudomonas aureginosa 8 (22.2%) , S.aureus 7 (19.4%), Klebsiella pneumonia 4 (11.1%) ,Proteus mirabilis 3 (8.3%) , E.coli2 (5.6%) , Serratia marcescens 1 (2.8%) , no growth 2(5.6%). (16.6%) out of thirty samples are mixed (contain 2 or 3 bacteria). All 5 isolates of Gram negative bacilli(100%) were resistance to Tetracycline and Amoxclav , E.coli, Serratia marcescens and Klebsiella pneumonia (100%) were sensitive to Ciprofloxacin and Gentamicin. E.coli and Serratia marcescens (100%) were sensitive to Chloramphenicol and Ceftrixone. Pseudomonas aureginosa (100%) was sensitive to Streptomycin, Nerobinin and Ambikacin. Pseudomonas aureginosa (100%) was resistance to Ceftixin. S.aureus (100%) was resistance to Oxacillin. This study showed that the male were more susceptible to bed sore infection 24 (80%) than female 6 (20%) and showed that surgery ward patients were more susceptible to bed sore infection 13(43.3%), followed by orthopedicts ward 7(23.3%),medicine 5(16.7%) ICU 3(10%) HDU 2(6.7%). The study concluded that infection with bed sore between 20-40 years.en_US
