CAD Implementation for Designing Clothes Pattern and Drafting

Abstract

This research aims to use the AutoCAD program in clothes pattern drafting in order to develop a simple , accurate method of pattern drafting and also available for every pattern maker due to the simplicity of interfacing with AutoCAD , in addition to that to be available in a form of software at a reasonable price. Men’s wear specially (trousers and shirt) were selected as samples for the application of this program. The research described the method of manual pattern drafting applied in the trousers and shirts, then the drafting of the basic patterns of trousers and shirt by the program. The results obtained were satisfied that the work done proved the ability of AutoCAD implementation in clothes pattern drafting. Clothes pattern drafted by AutoCAD are more neat and accurate than the manual ones beside the simplicity and high capability of the program.
