Abstract: The study was done to evaluate the different fuels which are being used in Sudan oil field to run the power plants and heaters and compare them among each other to determine which is better. The evaluation is base on the impact on the handling systems, environment and fuel cost.  Samples have been taken for the fuels and analyzed in laboratory to determine the different properties.  Two power plants are taken as case study to evaluate fuel cost from direct cost point of view. From comparison, it is found that:  The crude oil is more difficult to handle compared with diesel due to its high viscosity.  There is no significance difference in pollutant emission from the combustion of crude oil and diesel fuel.  The fuel cost per generated MW is lower for crude oil compared with the diesel.
