Abstract: In this study the researcher assessed the effectiveness of conventional X-ray, and computed tomography in diagnosis of paranasal sinuses diseases and compared between these two modalities when they are applied for the same case. This study is conducted at ear-nose-throat departments in each of Khartoum Hospital and IbnSinna Hospital, also at conventional X-ray departments ts and computed tomography departmen ts in Khartoum. Random samples of fifty patients males and females with different ages, and symptoms where chosen conventional X-ray, and computed - tomography examinations were done to them This study was extended from January 2004 up to August 2004. Some of these cases, had the same diagnosis by the two modalities, while the majority of them diagnosed only by C.T scan especially the earlier cases. VII It can be said that the conventional X-ray examination has a role in the diagnosis of paranasal sinuses diseases, but C.T scan is better and more sensitive than it.
