| Abstract: | This study was carried out in Soba University Hospital which supplied with modern high quality machines together with enough patients for the study. A total of 50 patients were subjected to the U/S and conventional x-ray investigations. Those patients were referred from the urology clinic after the initial clinical investigation which suggested the presence of UT stones. As suspected, the U/S investigation was carried out smoothly in short time, but the conventionally x-ray investigations were followed with more problems, such as the preparation of patients, the contrast media reaction and the time consuming in addition to radiation exposure. The results of these investigations were coincidenced with the questionnaire answers and with that in the most references in most patients. For quick understanding the results were put in tables with percentage and followed by statistical graphs and then the comparison between the U/S results and x-ray results took place. From this comparison it is clear that the U/S investigation is the best and main modality for the detection of urolithasis. The U/S detected urolithaisis in 90% of the examined cases, where the x-ray investigations detected urolithaisis in only 68% of them. Because of the importance of early detection of urolithaisis, the researcher recommended that a more researches should take place for them using the modern radiological modalities such as spiral CT and MRI. |
