Abstract: Radiation exposure associated with multislice CT has increased substantially over the past two decades and is a major concern that needs to quantify the paient doses durng Ct procedures. This study intended to evaluate the radiation doses from different CT imaging modalities i.e 64 slices, 4 slices, dual slices and single slice during CT urography. The data used in this study was collected from four hospital in the Khartoum state: Al Amal National Hospital, Ibn Alhythum Diagnostic Centre, ALnileen Diagnostic Center, and Military Hospital the data collected from May to August 2012. a total of 80 patients were examined in four CT departments. Multislice CT showed the highest exposure values. The amount of radiation dose a patient receives from a CT scan depends upon two key factors, the design of the scanner and also on the way that the scanner is used. Selection of the most appropriate imaging modality should be performed in view of the delivered doses, required image quality and information and the clinical circumstances. The values we obtained in CTU exam from ALamal diagnostic center is(DLP=3499±1330.75,CTDIvol= 159.55±150.89,Total slice Number=79.35±6.78) and from Ibn ALhaithum specialist center(DLP= 14 916.40,CTDIvol= 23.60,Total slice Number=29.21±3.71) and from ALneelain diagnostic center is(DLP= 168.60±62.68,CTDIvol=4.45±1.48,Total slice Number=62.10±7.99) and finally in Military hospital the values obtained is (DLP=230.40±19.39,CTDIvol=5.81,Total slice Number=109.30±7.30) The amount of radiation dose a patient receives form a CT scan depend upon two key factors, the design of the scanner and on the way that scanner is used. Selection of the most appropriate imaging modality should be performed in view of the delivered doses, required image quality and information and the clinical circumstances.
