| dc.description.abstract | The presently described study concerned the problem of power distribution system network design. As a special case, the work was concentrated on a study of the investigation and redesign in university of Gezira campus. Distribution system in university of Gezira was designed in the past for light load, but now university is developed and this development requires designing of distribution system to meet demand. Now, university of Gezira campus suffers from many problems in distribution system such as: voltage drop, over voltage, over heating in cables, burning in circuit breakers, and oscillations. These problems cause discontinuity of supply, and interruption of works. The study is subjected to the solve of the problem by investigation of problems and redesigning of the system. The scope of the study is subjected to the effectiveness of the distribution system of university of Gezira (Neshaisheba campus) by achieving the following. 1. Investigation external distribution system problems and its effects on continuity of supply. 2. Investigation internal distribution system problems and effects on external distribution. 3. Investigation the suitable distribution system with respect to the environment. 4. Consideration of a suitable design of the distribution system. The campus is surveyed and locations of transformers and poles are plotted. Present loads are calculated using Excel soft ware, and main switches are plotted for all buildings. Main switches are redesigned and plotted using Auto Cad program together with the estimation of cost. The study is concluded and changes some of over head lines are made to avoid circuit faults. Trenches are built for underground distribution system for more reliable and easy maintenance. Generator load is connected for lighting purposes only, air conditioning load are calculated separately to facilitate the use of standby generator for lighting purpose only. | en_US |
