Abstract: Most of CT machines do not produce 3D images that can be viewed and rotated by medical doctors. Medical students also face difficulties in getting X-ray images from hospitals due to ethical issues and privacy policy of the hospital The objective of this thesis is to demonstrate the reconstruction of 3D image of body bones for medical and educational purposes. It aims to produce flexible images that show clearly 3D bone fractures without need to get X-ray images from hospital. The 3D image is reconstructed from 15 CT slices of a lumber vertebra. All these slices are then segmented, processed and stacked together in MATLAB® to form the final image. The user can then view and rotate the 3D image of bone, draw any type of bone fracture any where in one of the 2D slices and get the 3D image of the fractured bone. The produced 3D image gave results almost typical to the anatomical one .
