This thesis proposes a framework for managing networks remotely; the main function of the Remote Network Management System (RNMS) is to manage the intended network from the Internet through a computer or a mobile phone, this makes the management possible remotely from any where. An alert SMS messages will be sent to the administrator when an event has occurred in the managed network. The proposed framework produces a full solution to the non-IT related companies and network administrators for reducing the networking overhead. It combines the use of mobile phone and a computer to access the managed network through the Internet which it not provided in the available network management systems. The proposed SNMP system uses the available features to manage the network, and avoid the use of Java applets which is used in the existing similar applications such as: ManageEngine OpManager 5, Foundry’s IronView Network Manager, HP OpenView, etc. The proposed solution framework consists of two parts: the managing part, and he alerts part. the managing part deals with the intended network gathering information, setting object values, and polling, The alert part receives the unsolicited messages and build the alert message and send it through a GSM modem to the administrator, the web page interface has been designed to help the administrator to access the managing part either from a common computer or a cellular device such as a mobile phone. Using the proposed framework will reduce the network management overhead.en_US
