The present study aims to investigate whether the oral communicative activities provided by the SPINE series for the secondary level in Khartoum State and the teaching practices are conducive to developing the students' oral communicative competence. The present study, utilizing a questionnaire, an interview and a content analysis tool, has mainly concluded that the oral communicative activities provided by the SPINE series are often communicative but the SPINE series does not provide a variety of oral communicative activities. Also, it has concluded that the students are not provided with adequate oral receptive input and opportunities to use the target language. In addition, it has concluded that extracurricular activities are not applied and the backwash of testing is not positive. The study has recommended converting some of the oral communicative activities provided by the SPINE 4 into communicative and enrich the SPINE series with a variety of oral communicative activities. Also, the study has recommended providing the students with authentic audio materials and testing the secondary school students' oral communicative competence, among other recommendations.en_US
