dc.description.abstractVariable speed wind turbine represent the latest development in wind turbine technology. It enables the power system operator to maximize the wind power capturing during many turbine speed. The revolution in HVDC technology facilitates the connection and controlling of wind turbine. In this thesis the boost converter is used to control the turbine speed while the grid side the voltage converter is regulating the reactive power at the point of common coupling. Pitch control is added to the turbine in order to prevent the excessive increase in generated wind power during the high speed. In this thesis the integration of wind power into main grid via friendly medium without operation problem is introduced. Also the wind turbine is equipped with control system to allow variable speed operation.en_US
