dc.description.abstractThis Thesis sets out the control principle, which governs the design of automatic control for Khartoum North Power Station, Fuel Oil Forwarding Pumps. It also provides an outline design for such control systems. The incentive for having effective automatic control is to ensure that the plant can meet system requirements and the operational constraints. Efforts to make the station suitable for the flexibility requirement, therefore, involve both remedial action, involving detailed analysis of the problems or existing faults, and betterment, involving acceptance of the need for extended facilities. The design of modern plant is such that the integrity of the whole is as dependent on the reliability of a host of minor auxiliary items as it is on that of major plant items. In general, performance shortfalls in one area lead to difficulties in another. It follows that the various control activities must be carried out within an overall integrated design strategy. In general, this Thesis does not go beyond the functional specification level. It is strictly limited to control and instrumentation systems of Khartoum North Power Station Fuel Oil Forwarding Pumps pressure control, and does not deal with shortfalls in the design or performance of existing plant.en_US
