Estimation of Platelet Volume Indices among Patientswith Heart Disease in Khartoum State

Abstract

This a descriptiveanalytical study which done in Ahmed Qaseem hospital the study include 150 samples selected randomly (100 sample patients and 50 sample control ) .thestudy were conducted during the period of time from March 2013 to August 2013 . This is acasecontrol study carried out in patients with heart disease to estimate of platelets volume indices among patients with heart disease . The platelet indices was calculated by using automation(Sysmex XN21) The result were as follow : ( Mean of patients sample ) Mean of platelet count 252.3 cell/cumm. Mean of platelet distribution width 12.4 fl . Mean platelet volume 9.54 fl . Mean of platelet large cell ratio 22.65 % . And Mean of control sample as follow : Mean of platelet count 241.9 cell/cumm. Mean of platelet distribution width 11.9 fl . Mean platelet volume 9.86 fl . Mean of platelet large cell ratio 25.03 % . The study showed that there was no significant variation between mean of platelets count and mean ofplatelet count in patient sample and normal control, was found significant variation in platelet distribution width Mean platelet volume and platelet large cell ratio compared with normal control. The result were analyses by using SPSS program and we found P .Value less than ( 0.05 ) .
