This is a prospective, descriptive and cross-sectional study aimed to detect autoimmune hemolytic anemia among chronic lymphocytic leukemia Sudanese patients attending Radiation and Isotopes center in Khartoum state during the period from January to June 2011. A total of fifty Sudanese leukemic patients were enrolled in this study, 32 (64%) males and 18 (32%) females, their age ranged from 46 to 85 years, and 28% were receiving treatment while 72% were untreated. 2.5 ml EDTA anticoagulated blood sample was collected from each antiglobulin patient test and investigated using direct (Coomb’s test), complete blood count, reticulocyte count, and Lieshman’s stained blood film. The mean haemoglobin concentration and reticulocyte count was 9.7 g/dl and 3.1 % respectively. Direct antiglobulin test was positive in 6 (12%) cases and negative in 44 (88%), this frequency of positive DAT is similar to the known frequency in western countries. Blood film showed different degrees of spherocytosis and reticulocytosis. The results of this study showed that no relation between treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and autoimmune hemolytic anemiaen_US
