| Abstract: | Transformers are essential elements in any power system. They allow the relatively low voltage from generators to be raised to a very high level for efficient power transmission. At the user end of the system transformer reduce the voltage to value most suitable for utilization. According to the development and expansion in electricity network in Sudan the manufacturing of transformers was started by establishing transformer assembly and maintenance work shop. And latterly the workshop was up-graded to become a factory for manufacturing distribution transformers of different capacities started from 50kVA up to 1000kVA. The main objective of this project is to introduce a simple and easy to apply design. Procedure for transformers design which can be used in the newly established transformer factory in Khartoum. As an application of the proposed method a practical example of designing of a 100 kVA, 11/0.433kV Distribution Transformer was discussed. Where the results proved the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method. |
