This analytical case-control study was conducted at AL-Ribat national hospital to measure complete blood count in patients with chronic renal failure, a questionnaire was used for direct interviews and the objective of the study was clearly explained to all individuals participating in the study .The study included 100 individuals,70 patients and 30 as control .Blood samples were collected from patients with chronic renal failure and under dialysis .5 ml of venous blood was collected in EDTA container ,the following investigations were carried out (Hb, HCT, RBCs count, MCV, MCH, MCHC, TWBCs and platelet count) using an automated haematological analyzer(sysmex, model kx21). Data obtained were analyzed using software program statistical package of socialscience(SPSS). The results when compared with control showed that there was highly significant decreased in mean of Hb level (9.178 g/dl) P value(.000) ,mean of PCV(29.438%) P value(.000), mean of RBCsx106/ml(3.445) P value(.000),but in case of mean of MCV(85.313 fl) P value(.000), mean of MCH(27.0 pg) P value(.000), mean of MCHC(31.205 g/dl) P value(.282),lower than control but still in normal range. But there is no effect on platelet and total white blood cells count. In conclusion the hemoglobin level, red blood cells count and packed cell volume are decreased as result of chronic renal failure.en_US
