Abstract: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out at National Ribat Hospital in Khartoum state during the period from March 2011 to July 2011, to determine the frequency of Rh phenotypes among Danagla and Mahas ethnic groups by using direct tube technique. One hundred blood samples were collected, 50 samples from Danagla in which 29 males and 21 females, 50 samples from Mahas in which 25 males and 25 females. The results showed that the most common Rh antigen in Danagla was e Ag (100%), followed by c Ag (96%),D Ag (88%), C Ag (46%) and E Ag (14%). Also in Mahas the most common Rh antigen was e Ag (100%), followed by c Ag (92%),D Ag (90%), C Ag (52%) and E Ag (12%). The frequencies of Rh phenotypes in Danagla started with the most common one were as following cDe (38%), CcDe (32%), Cce (12%), CcDEe (10%), CDe (4%) and cDEe (4%), while in Mahas were as following CcDe (40%), cDe (30%), Cce (10%), CDe (8%),cDEe (8%) and CcDEe (4%). The study showed that there were insignificant differences for the presence of Rh antigens between males and females.
