Synthesis of some Nitrogen Containing Five- and Six- membered Heterocyclic Ring Derivatives

Abstract

In the present study synthesis of several chalcones and their cyclization reactions with some reagents (thiourea and thiosemicarbazide) was dealt with, some heterocyclic aromatic and non aromatic compounds (pyrimidines, thiazines and 2- pyrazolines) were prepared. Twenty four chalcones were prepared by using Claisen-Schmidt aldol condensation reaction between some aromatic aldehydes and methyl ketones (aromatic and aliphatic).The synthesized chalcones on reaction with thiourea under reflux form pyrimidine derivatives (twenty compounds) and on reaction with thiourea with stirring under room temperature gave twenty thiazine derivatives. Some synthesized chalcones were reacted with thiosemicarbazide to form five- membered ring heterocyclic compound,2-pyrazoline derivatives (eighteen compounds). The reaction progress for all synthesized compounds was checked by (TLC) techniques. The structures of synthesized compounds were confirmed spectroscopically using IR, 1H-NMR and MS. Synthetic designing and mechanisms of the reactions of the different groups of compounds were discussed.
