Abstract The main objective of this study was to evaluate the fibrosis stages by ultrasound to help reaching the accurate treatment. The study included 50 patients whom are all national Sudanese and who had Hepatitis B or hepatitis C positive. This study was performed at the Tropical Diseases Teaching Hospital in Omdurman during the period from December 2011 to March 2012. The study was performed with a portable ultrasound machine (Aloka Prosound 2) with a transducer frequency ranges from 2.5- 6MHz. All patients with liver cirrhosis were included in this study, with both gender types, through different age groups. This study reveals that liver fibrosis affects males more than females. The numbers of males were 37 (74%) and females were 13 (26%). The result of this study showed that sixteen (16) patients (32%) were normal (stage 0), twelve (12) patients (24%) were having liver fibrosis stage 1, six (6) patients (12%) were having liver fibrosis stage 2, four (4) patients (8%) were having liver fibrosis stage 3 and twelve (12) patients (24%) were at the late stage of fibrosis (stage 4), cirrhosis. The value of the use of ultrasound is that the detection of liver fibrosis stages can be achieved by ultrasound IVen_US
