dc.description.abstractA descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in the Radiation & Isotopes Centre Khartoum (RICK), Khartoum state, the aim of the present study is to evaluate serum vitamin D and HDL-C Levels in Breast Cancer Sudanese Women. A sixty women with breast cancer and thirty healthy volunteers’ women as a control group. In this study the test group was composed of 37% in age between 20-40 (n= 18), 45% in age between 41-60 (n= 29) and 18% in age more than 60 (n= 13). Immunochemistry ELISA was used for measurement of Vitamin D, precipitation spectrophotometeric assay was used for HDL-C estimation, BMI calculated using international formula, then data were analyzed by Statistical (SPSS version 16) computer software. The study results showed a significant decrease in the mean of vitamin D level in patients compared with control group (P-value 0.00). HDL-C indicated significant increase patients in compared with control group (P- value 0.000). There is a significant elevation of the plasma vitamin D level in premenopausal with breast cancer compared with menopausal female (P-value 0.04). In the current study there is insignificant differences reported with all risk factors used parity, BMI, and duration of disease when compared with both vitamin D and HDL levels. The study showed a positive correlation between vitamin D and HDL-C with (r= +0.025). In conclusion, there is strong evidence supporting our hypothesis that vitamin D decreased in breast cancer patients. ‫en_US
