The role of CT in diagnosis of liver masses

Abstract

This study is concerned with reviewing the role of CT in evaluating liver masses. The study was conducted in Suba university hospital and the Military hospital. The study employed simple methodology, including data collection from clinical reports as well as questionnaire and meeting and the study was started from March until June 2007. There is no previous study in CT discuss this subject and further studies may be introduce in the future to compare between the results diagnosed and that obtain by a needle biopsy. Twenty five patients data was statistically analyzed cases of metastasis Hepatocellular carcinoma and haemangioma were tabulated and there respective percentage were computed and graphically represented. The images was diagnosed by radiologists showed that males are more affected than females and the group of age between 51 to 70 more affected to the liver masses, 72% of the patients suffered liver metastasis, 16% of the patients reflected Hepatocellular carcinoma and 12% with haemangioma. We can say that CT has an effective role in evaluating of liver masses, but confirmation of the diagnosis need in some of cases to take a biopsy from the liver to between different types of masses.
