Abstract: This cross sectional study was conducted among 602 (367 male and 235 female) citizens in Om Shoka village, Sinnar state to determine the prevalence of Schistosoma haematobium by three different techniques (sedimentation, filtration and indirect haemagglutination technique). By using sedimentation technique, the study showed that the overall prevalence of infection was 21% (126 persons). Males have reported higher rate of infection than females (31.6% and 4.2% respectively). The highest infection rate (25%) was reported among the 1-10 and 11-20 years age groups, while the no infection was reported among the 31-40 years age group. By using the filtration technique, the study showed that the overall prevalence of infection was 12.2% (74 persons). Males have reported higher rate of infection than females (19% and 1.7% respectively). The highest infection rate (14.9%) was reported among the 11-20 years age group while the no infection was reported among the 31-40 years age group. Only 400 citizens were diagnosed by using indirect haemagglutination technique. The study showed that the overall prevalence of infection was 40.7% (163 persons). Males have reported higher infection rate than females (56.9% and 8.8% respectively). The highest infection rate (52.2%) was reported among the 11-20 years age group while the no infection was reported among the 31-40 years age group.
