dc.description.abstractThis study attempted to assess to possibilities altered by the integration of the computer, as a teaching tool with the old techniques of teaching English vocabulary to third year secondary school students, and its impact on developing the teacher's competences in using it in teaching English vocabulary. Moreover, the study examines the potential of technology to enhance vocabulary learning. The essential goal of the reach is to explore the issue of using the computer resources and materials to enrich teaching strategies and delivering of courses materials. The importance of the research lies in the fact that, the application of computers for improving teaching strategies have drastically altered the ways in which vocabulary should be taught. The researcher adopted descriptive and experimental method to analyze data. The study sample includes 60 students in Idriss Private Secondary School in Omdurman were randomly chosen and divided into two groups, and 30 teachers at Khartoum State. The study tools are questionnaires for teachers and tests for students. Furthermore, the questionnaires and tests subjected to (SPSS) to analysis data. The findings of this study reveal that there is shortage of trained teachers in the area of teaching English language. Lack of using computers in teaching English vocabulary in secondary schools. Students' capability in vocabulary post-test. Students who used computes, are more co-operative, they avoid the spelling mistakes, punctuation and grammatical errors. There is changing in student's attitudes and behavior, as saving time, reducing teacher's and have great impact on developing student's vocabulary. Students can practice self learning inside the classroom, and the teachers interact differently with them. Those results encourage the researcher to recommend that: • The Ministry of Education should establish regional centers for training teachers. • Computers should be used, and teachers ought to interact with students in real classrooms, share knowledge and experience with colleagues and create specific plans for technology in their classrooms and schools. • Computers could be integrated to English curriculum to enhance teaching and learning. • Motivation is the most important elements in learning English language so, teachers are strongly recommended to present their students with appealing and attractive materials. • Teachers should be thoroughly qualified in presenting English language thorough computers. • Teachers decide at which stages of the lessons to use computers aid and for what purpose.en_US
