Abstract: | This research aims at evaluating the type and the concentration of oral contrast medium, in addition to the time needed for the contrast medium to be taken orally, for taking an abdominal CT . The study was conducted at the Modern Medical Center, Khartoum Advanced Diagnostic center and El Nelain center. The data were collected through the questionnaire which included information about the patients such as age, gender, clinical history, area under examination, as well as any gastro-intestinal disorders, and any other examinations previously done to the patient and the patient preparation. The questionnaire also information about oral contrast medium used for samples of the research, in terms of types, Concentration, and time of administration. There were 65 patient included in the study and five types contrast were subject in the study. The research conducted that the (Urografin) C.m usage represented the highest ratio (53%), followed by (Gastrografin) and (Omnipaque) (15%), (Scanlux) (13%), and (Ba Sulphate) (2%). The concentration used to be according the type of contrast medium used the optimum time was found to be one hour (73.85%) at the centers in questions. The research recommend the use of appropriate oral contrast medium according to the patient condition. |
