dc.description.abstractInfection prevention and control (IPC) in a healthcare setting requires a comprehensive, coordinated program designed to prevent and control nosocomial or healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Objective: To assess knowledge of Midwives Related to Infection Control in Labor Rooms Methods: A descriptive cross sectional hospital based study’s design was conducted at public hospitals in Khartoum state, knowledge of midwives was adopted by questionnaire. Results: The current study revealed that majority (81%) of midwives had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding infection control measures in labor rooms, regarding methods of sterilization almost 81.5% of midwives said dry heat sterilization however less than half 44.3% of midwives said wet heat sterilization, Regarding the autoclave sterilization (47.6%, 41.5%, and 39.3%) know have of equipment that closed or opened, time, temperature that the autoclave used respectively. The present study explained the knowledge of the midwives about infectious disease (96.6%) of midwives have known the AIDS as infectious diseases and 85.4% of them known Hepatitis put less than half (46.3%, 45.4%) of them known Gonorrhea and Syphilis respectively. Conclusions: The results of this study revealed a need for implementing midwives training about standard of infection control in labor rooms.en_US
