Abstract

The study aimed to know to which extent the gender mainstreaming may affect sustainable development at study area (ALfaki Hashim) at North Khartoum. A random satisfied sample of 50 farmers (25 male and 25 female) were selected, they responded by completing specially designed questionnaire, then the data was analyzed with computer using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Frequencies and percentage are calculated also chi –square test. Important findings reached by the study are the Following: - • Illiteracy was widespread among female, its percentage was %32 while the percentage among male was% 8 • The study shows that 56% of the females owned land less than 3 fedan compared with 52% of the males. • The study shows that% 40 of the females and% 32 from males have less than 500SDG monthly income. • The study also shows that%60 of the females depend on farmer's knowledge as a source of information, while% 32 from males received their information through research and bulletin publication. • %84 of females and males haven't received any financial service. and % of females and% 16 of males have received extension services. The study reached to the following recommendations: • The important need to care about rural women and supporting them to join the societies and organizations that were working in the area or outside it. • The important need to enhance the efficiency of leader women and increase their number.
