Abstract: This research's problem is that refugee camps are Inadequate Shelters and do not meet human requirements. This study was conducted to identify the refugee camps' design criteria and study the refugee camps in Sudan regarding the period and design criteria. This study aimed to: To raise the stakeholder's awareness of the long-term camps, to attract the authorities' attention to develop design criteria, to encourage innovation, and develop technical solutions for sheltering. The Descriptive Analytical Method was used to study the refugee camps design criteria in Sudan. In addition, The Quantitative Method was used to Counting the life span of these camps (the EXEL program was used). The assessment was done after data was collected from many sources. These sources included (Reference books, researches, internet articles, on-site interviews with the camp inhabitants, COR staff and UNHCR staff from different sectors). Physical observations were also made in Bantio Camp through photography. In addition, interviews with camp residents were carried out, and notes were taken. The study concluded that the life span of refugee camps in Sudan is long-term camps spanning 26 years. The periods of these camps begin with the emergency stage. After that, they gradually grow with no clearly defined stages, so it is difficult to determine the camp's phase concretely. This study emphasized the need to develop design criteria and find adequate technical solutions
