Abstract: A field experiment was conducted at the demonstrated farm of the College of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology, Shambat during the summer 2016 to investigate the effect of different types of fertilizers on growth and yield of sorghum ( Abu Sabien) . The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. The fertilizers treatments consisted of four types of fertilizers (Urea. NPK, DAP, 180 kg/ha) and control (with out fertilizer). Characters studied included growth attributes (plant height, number of leaves per plant ,leaf area index chlorophyll content stem diameter , fresh weight, dry weight , protein and fiber content . Plant height and number of leave was significantly affected by fertilizers treatments at30 45, 60 days after sowing. The results showed significant effect on chlorophyll content stem diameter leaf area index and fresh and dry weight at 70 days after sowing. The fertilizers treatments had effect on all yield characters. Urea fertilizer had a positive influence on growth and yield attributes which is gave the highest means in most characters under studies. The results showed that fertilizers treatments had a highly significant effect on fiber and protein content
