Incidence of Hepatitis B and C Viruses, Human Immune Deficiency Virus and Syphilis Among Blood Donors Attending Blood Bank of Khartoum Teaching Hospital

Abstract

This study was done in the period from December 2009 till March 2010 at blood bank of Khartoum teaching hospital. The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of HBV, HCV, HIV and syphilis among blood donors. Two hundred donors were selected in different ages & physical examination and samples took through questionnaire. Venous samples were collected and obtained serum to analyzed using ELSIA technique in the blood bank of Khartoum teaching hospital, then we analyzed the data with Statistical package of social science (SPSS)computer program, the result obtained show that: The percentage of syphilis is 13.5% that show the highest frequency. The percentage of HBsAg is 9.0%. The percentage of HCV is 5.0%.The percentage of HIV is 3% that show the lowest frequency.
