EFFECT OF DIFFERENT IRRIGATION INTERVALS ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF TWO GENOTYPES OF

Abstract

Two soybean genotypes; indeterminate growth (1448) and determinate growth (Egyptian) were studied at the Demonstrated Farm, College of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology, Shambat during the season 2011, to examine the effect of different water levels (7 days, 14 days and 21 days). The experiment was arranged in the randomized complete block design, divided in split plots, with four replications. Irrigation intervals treatments occupied the main plots and genotypes in the sub - plots. Growth parameters were; 50% flowering, plant height after 60 and 90 days from sowing date, leaf area and number of leaves and yield parameters were: number of pods / plant, number of seed / pod, number of seed / plant, weight of seeds / plant, 100 seed weight, harvest index and yield (kg/ha).
